Our final full day in Port-Au-Prince was spent back at Share Hope, working with the classes we had met the other day. All of the students we met had come back, and they were incredibly excited to be able to meet our team and speak with us again. One of the students even gave us all bracelets, and wrote a letter of appreciation for our team to take home with us. We worked with them on conversational english, in order to prepare for their national exams for their high-school completion program. Interestingly enough, many of their questions for us, focused around our perspective of Haiti, both before and after our arrival. They had a desire to better understand how their country was viewed by foreigners, and how our experience either confirmed, or changed those ideas. These conversations were eye opening to the fact that despite all Haiti has been through, and their tumultuous history, they’re incredibly proud of their country, and that’s a belief that’s been shared throughout the entirety of our trip.
